A large solar storm in 2011. How it affects life on earth?
Recently I saw a film on the Discovery Channel on opportunities because of sunspots / solar storms in 2011. Consequently, the magnetic storm, caused by this phenomenon will be the strongest since 1859, when a large solar storm hit land. At that time, no damage was caused because there was no electricity / Electronic equipment on Earth. But the activity is likely to be more intense in 2011 and it can severely damage electrical installations, and cause a total failure of food, water and communication network. I want to know the size of a chaos it can be, and what measures will be taken to the United States and other countries? – Ashok Ghai (India)
